adidas-Salomon is donating 250,000 dollars for the victims of the flood in South Asia to international children's relief organisation terre des hommes
Employees in 100 countries were asked to donate.
Osnabrück, January 4, 2005 - The sporting goods company adidas-Salomon donated 250,000 dollars for the victims of the flood in South Asia to the international children's relief organisation terre des hommes. adidas-Salomon Chief Executive Officer, Herbert Hainer, asked 17,000 employees in about 100 countries to commit themselves to the children's relief organisation.
At the moment terre des hommes is taking care of 30,000 survivors in Nagapattinam in India and 12,500 people in Banda Aceh and Lhokseumawe in Indonesia. In Sri Lanka terre des hommes is co-ordinating emergency aid for 300,000 survivors in Batticaloa and Ampara. In addition, eight mobile clinics are at work there.
terre des hommes is providing water, food, baby food and medicine for the people. Numerous traumatised children are receiving special care and are being given time, care and attention in "children's spots" in the camps. Psycho-social care is now being organised for thousands of mothers who have lost their children in the flood.
terre des hommes will support reconstruction work in Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand and will give special attention to rebuilding schools and vocational training programmes.
