adidas and David Beckham reveal stunning global logo design

March 03, 2004

Amsterdam/Herzogenaurach, March 3, 2004 - Today, David Beckham officially unveiled his new personal logo at the adidas-Salomon Global Headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and extended his contract with the world's leading football brand until 2008. The logo's design was inspired by Beckham's trademark free kicks, and will appear on selected adidas products that will be revealed later this year. Coupled with the contract extension, it builds an even deeper relationship between the world's number one football brand and arguably the most famous footballer in the world, adidas and David Beckham.

Herbert Hainer, Chairman and CEO of adidas-Salomon AG, stated: "The contract extension and the new logo will strengthen adidas' leadership in football. Both the adidas brand and David Beckham are looking forward to expanding our relationship, using the new logo across our business for many years to come." Herbert Hainer continued: "David's passion and commitment make him one of the fiercest competitors and most exciting players in the game today. He's the perfect fit for our brand."

"The logo is totally me and something that people can relate to," David Beckham said. "The image of me taking a free kick is world renowned and instantly recognizable. I am proud to have worked with adidas to develop it."
