adidas-Salomon stays in the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index
Herzogenaurach, 04/09/2001 - adidas-Salomon AG has been selected to join the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index, the world’s first global sustainability index family tracking the performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide, for a second consecutive time.
In today’s annual review, the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index (DJSGI), Dow Jones analysed the social, environmental and financial performance of our company and concluded that adidas-Salomon is an industry leader on sustainability issues. This has been promoted by the company's international monitoring team which works with suppliers to ensure they are complying with the company code of conduct, the Standards of Engagement. In addition, adidas-Salomon earlier this year published its Social and Environmental Report 2000 showing the progress in making suppliers’ factories safe and fair places to work. The report shows our dedication to transparency and communication with our stakeholders.
"Inclusion in the DJSGI for the second time in a row recognises our involvement, commitment and progress in social and environmental affairs," says David Husselbee, Global Director for Social & Environmental Affairs at adidas-Salomon AG. "We are dedicated to socially responsible, safe and environmentally sustainable practices in our company and our supply chain."
The DJSGI, which was introduced last year, measures sustainability on a global basis and it is highly diversified across all market sectors and industry groups, being based on the Dow Jones Global Index. If companies are included in the DJSGI, they are considered industry leaders in strategic areas such as social, environmental and long-term economic dimensions.
In July 2001 adidas-Salomon was also included in the FTSE4Good Europe Index. This index was designed by FTSE, one of the world’s leading global index providers. Companies on the index are selected according to environmental sustainability, a positive relationship with stakeholders and through upholding and supporting human rights.
