adidas-Salomon selected to join the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index
Herzogenaurach, 04/10/2000 - adidas-Salomon AG has been selected to join the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index, the world’s first global sustainability index family tracking the performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.
In the Annual Review 2000 of the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index (DJSGI), Dow Jones analysed the social, environmental and financial performance of our company and concluded that adidas-Salomon is an industry leader on sustainability issues. In particular Dow Jones recognises that adidas-Salomon has made significant progress in improving the social and environmental conditions in the factories which supply its products. This has been promoted by the company's international monitoring team which works with suppliers to ensure they are complying with the company code of conduct, the Standards of Engagement. In addition, adidas-Salomon has taken an industry lead by establishing an externally certified environmental management system in its own production facilities in Germany.
The DJSGI is the only index that measures sustainability on a global basis and it is highly diversified across all market sectors and industry groups, being based on the Dow Jones Global Index. If companies are included in the DJSGI, they areconsidered industry leaders in strategic areas such as social, environmental and long-term economic dimensions.
