My Experience Winning a Chance to be an adiClub Chaperone at the Paris Olympics
Carolyn Yang was one of handful of winners selected to chaperone our adiClub members at the summer Olympics. Here’s her story.

I never imagined a simple post in our adidas intranet ‘Viva Engage’ could lead me on the trip of a lifetime but that’s exactly what happened this August. I got to step away from my usual work for a few days and experience something entirely different – working with adidas customers in Paris during the Olympics.
How it all began
There is no such thing as a regular day when you work for adidas, but this one started out like any other. That is, until I stumbled upon a post on Viva Engage. Our Membership Team, who is in charge of all the adiClub activations, was searching for chaperones to accompany our adiClub winners on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The adiClub, our loyalty program at adidas, offers their members the chance to earn points, level up, and win incredible experiences – just like this one!
The moment I read the post, I felt a spark of excitement. The Olympics? Paris? Me?
I knew this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
I quickly applied, submitting a brief motivation statement, in which I highlighted my passion for sports and previous experience as a chaperone for adiClub events.
With three years at adidas as an assistant manager for consumer acquisition in the European market, I’ve always loved helping our brand grow and engage its membership base. My role allows me to use my creativity to engage consumers, but this chance to work directly with our global members was a whole new ballgame!
The moment that changed everything
A few days later, my inbox pinged with the best surprise of my life – I had been selected as one of the chaperones! I was over the moon, and honestly, a bit shocked. How did I get so lucky? I'm not usually one to win raffles, and this was no ordinary prize. This was a unique chance to create unforgettable memories!
Seine Sights and Olympic Heights: Chaperoning Paris in Chic!
Together with 4 other chaperones and two Membership managers, I was responsible for assisting the 30 adiClub winners from 14 different countries. The group was so diverse, with varying backgrounds, ages, and interests. While some spoke English, others didn't, so I used my Mandarin skills for translating and helping everyone feel comfortable. My job was to ensure they had the time of their lives – and let me tell you, we did deliver!
Our days were filled with exciting activities, starting with exploring Paris together. We visited the iconic adiHouse, a space where adidas athletes could relax and watch the games. The rooftop had the most breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. Oh, and did I mention we attended the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics finals? Yes, the actual finals – I was thrilled to see the best gymnasts in the world!
We also toured the stunning new adidas flagship store on the Champs-Élysées, did some shopping, and even enjoyed a walking tour through the artistic streets of Montmartre.
One evening, we had a magical dinner cruise along the Seine River. Picture this: delicious food, sparkling city lights, and Eiffel Tower views as we celebrated this unforgettable journey together – simply magnifique!
A trip that redefined my horizon
This trip was more than just a fun escape – it was transformative. On a professional level, I gained new insights into our adiClub program and connecting with members from different markets gave me a broader perspective that I can now bring back to my daily work. But the experience also taught me so much on a personal level. I discovered that I could step up as a leader, a translator, and a host in ways I hadn’t before. I learned to navigate challenges, collaborate with an incredibly diverse team, and create lasting memories. This journey reignited my curiosity, passion for adventure and foremost love for adidas.
A heartfelt ‘Thank You’

I am beyond grateful for this experience. A massive thank you to the Global Membership team for giving me and the other employees the opportunity to make these once-in-a-lifetime memories. And to my fellow chaperones – you made this trip even more special with your energy and camaraderie.
This was more than just a trip. It was a celebration of community, culture, and sport.
It was an adiClub experience, an adidas experience, and, most importantly, my experience. And I loved every single moment of it.
