Inside the Archive: 75 Years of adidas Products to Ring in our Milestone Anniversary

Our corporate historian Sandra Trapp takes you into the archive to showcase products that catapulted the 3-Stripes into what it is today.
by Sandra TrappSenior Manager, History Management

The adidas archive is nestled in the valley of our seven-story research and development building called Laces at our Herzogenaurach, Germany headquarters. Our guests are always a little caught off guard by how chilly the archive is once they step inside. Home to history management, the archive is our windowless and climate-controlled space that houses everything that shaped our DNA up until now.

Keeping the adidas DNA intact for future generations is a big ask and one that I take pride in as a corporate historian. There’s a story behind every piece and collection we’ve catalogued. To celebrate the 75th birthday of adidas, which was officially August 18, 1949, I’d now like to share some of these stories with you that date back to our roots.

Welcome to the adidas archive. Please put on your white gloves before you enter.

If you’re interested in reading more about our history, head on over to our history section or browse through our previous blog articles that take a look at our Stan Smith, tracksuits, as well as our role in providing World Cup footballs.
