As a global business, the adidas Group has a responsibility to look after the natural environment, both for people today and in the future. Environmental impacts occur not only in various forms at all stages of the lifecycle of our products, but also at our own operations with more than 40,000 employees worldwide who use energy, water and other resources such as paper.
But the most significant environmental impacts result from the use of energy, water, materials and chemicals when our products are being manufactured. Since production has been largely outsourced to independent suppliers, we help them find ways to reduce the impact of the production process with appropriate guidelines and training programmes.
We also recognise that we have the opportunity to innovate and create more sustainable products, made with more sustainable and/or recycled materials and with the lowest possible environmental impact.
